Sample Letter For Suppliers
Back To Immigration Home.
Dear ,
I am the (title) of a company located in (city) that supplies (product or service) to landscaping companies in California. As a supplier to a California industry that has an economic impact of $20.3 billion in output and 253,977 jobs, I am very concerned about immigration reform proposals that propose the deportation of undocumented immigrants. That would mean invading workplaces across America and disrupting business on an unprecedented scale, including my business.
The current status quo must not continue. (statement about why current immigration laws make no sense and must be changed, with example to illustrate point)
I, like most, believe that we need immigration reform. In order to make reform work and be successful, I strongly feel that any proposed legislation should be comprehensive and include the following measures:
- an efficient and effective new worker program allowing businesses like mine to recruit immigrant workers when U.S. workers are not available for certain jobs;
- a process by which undocumented workers now in the country and holding down jobs could gain a type of permanent legal status which would allow them to stay in the country and continue to work; and
- better control over our borders to prevent illegal immigration. But new enforcement systems need to be workable and should not unduly penalize employers under overreaching requirements.
The Sensenbrenner measure is only an enforcement bill and in many ways imposes requirements on employers that are extremely unreasonable and would be impossible to comply with. It also does nothing to address broader immigration reform issues.
We now have an opportunity to take control of the situation and promote our nation's values, security and future prosperity by proposing reform that includes the three above components.
Please let me know how you plan to vote on the immigration reform issue.
Respectfully yours,
